Greenpoint Residents Voice Opposition to Planned Restaurant and Marina at Transmitter Park
by Emma Davey
July 31, 2026
A proposal to construct a restaurant and marina at Transmitter Park faces community backlash in Greenpoint.
Greenpointers broke the story on Monday. Two restaurant industry veterans, Josh Cohen and David Schmitt, are preparing to sign a 25-year license agreement that allows for the development, operation, and maintenance of the restaurant and marina. The arrangement is through the NYC Parks Department’s concessions program, which allows food service professionals to operate restaurants and cafes on Parks’ properties.

Two local industry veterans, Josh Cohen and David Schmitt, are working with the NYC Parks and Recreation Department and preparing to sign a 25-year license agreement that allows for the development, operation, and maintenance of the restaurant and marina.
No names have been finalized yet for this project, but Cohen said it “will be an homage to Transmitter.”
